Welcome to England's Adventure capital, the Lake District National Park. Today we start with a variety of mild challenges, you hike over hilly terrain, canoe across a lake and climb a cliff before stopping for a high-end outdoor lunch.
The 19th-century landscape painter, John Constable declared the Lake District 'the finest scenery that ever was' Discover an age-old landscape formed and shaped by ice. Geologists would refer to these changes throughout time as geological upheaval; doesn't sound very poetic but I tell you what, the results make for scenery out of this world!
The Lake District is a land littered with archaeological footprints, stately homes, ruined monasteries and rainbows. It's got 10 of England's mountains, 16 lakes and home to Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddleduck, Jeremy Fisher, to name a few of the Victorian children's author's beautiful characters. This place inspired Beatrix Potter to dream up her stories, and eventually, she lived in the Lake District, winning prizes for breeding Herdwick sheep.

British mountains are seductive, beautiful, and harsh. In England’s adventure capital, there is a mountain for everyone.
We have options for gentle hikes and a mountain climb. We hike or scramble through sublime landscapes and have that wonderful sense of achievement once we reach the mountain peak. Our mountain guide will tell tales of these seriously old mountains, keep us safe and show us some stunning photo spots. We can reach a significant peak within 3hrs 30 mins or 1hrs 30mins for a minor ridge.
Helvellyn Mountain – Britain's best walk
England's third-highest mountain has been famous to climb since the 18th century. It has some variety in the scenery, glaciated coves and two sharp ridges. The most dramatic route is via Striding Edge, which can be dangerous, but exhilarating. There are several route options up Helvellyn, something for people of all abilities.
Catsbells - gentle giant
We have lunch in the mountains! Everything is weather dependent. Catsbells is the perfect little mountain for families to climb, stunning views and gentle slopes. The easy to climb – the name is to mean 'the home of the wild cat' – located just above the historic town of Keswick and Derwent Water. It's universally loved by the British, for a good reason – the panoramic views of the Lake District from its summit are the perfect introduction to the national park's mirror-like lakes, wild mountains and lush valleys.
You need 4 or 5 layers of thin, warm, and waterproof clothing with hoods: gloves, hats, and proper hiking boots, including waterproof trousers. Water and snacks required. Think changeable weather.

Sometimes you want to be amazed and awed by the unusual and the unbelievable. Hidden away in the Yorkshire Dales National Park is a wonderful secret.
Today, we arrange (subject to availability) a slow descent into Gaping Gill. Usually only available to experienced potholers, exploring the Gaping Gill is a once in a lifetime experience. This famous hole opens up into a yawning abyss, which swallows up "Fell Beck" a nearby stream which tumbles down into a cathedral-like chamber - making this unbroken subterranean waterfall the highest in Britain at 365 ft. Please see our top five Potholing in England sites.
Time permitting we head over to Fountains Abbey and tour the ruins and water garden. Nestled in a wooded valley stands the awe-inspiring ruins of Fountains Abbey, built in the 12th-century by an austere order of Cistercian monks. The Abbey now forms part of an extraordinary 18th-century water garden featuring moon-shaped pools, temples and cascades.

Explore the historic City of York on a guided walking tour in the morning, and a chance to roam free and explore in the afternoon!
We arrange behind the scenes tours of hidden passageways of York Minster, not ordinarily open to the public. We explore the crypt, tower and masons loft. The Minster is one of the world's most magnificent cathedrals. Experience the vast spaces and awe-inspiring medieval architecture, discover its Roman roots and learn about the Minster's role in Viking York. A beautiful place of worship, a true masterpiece in stone and glass. The Great East Window is the most massive medieval area of stained glass in Britain, and the chapter house contains some of the most exceptional stone carving in the world.
York is spilling over with history, culture and curiosities. It has streets called snickelways and street names that date from the Saxon times. Are you ready for this? 'Whip-ma-whop-ma-gate!' Yep, it means 'neither one thing nor the other'.
From Vikings to Romans, to Medieval and more, this historical melting pot is a joy to discover and is much like walking around a living museum. Time travel to the middle ages and wander down the Shambles, one of the most extraordinary streets in the world and the inspiration for JK Rowling's Diagon Alley. Don't forget to look out for ghosts. Haunted York, a spirit on every corner, over 500 official hauntings, including Seamus the dog, whose barks are heard echoing throughout the ancient buildings. They say that Seamus belonged to a stonemason who worked on the Minster.
