Windsor Castle and Stonehenge (full day)
As soon as you leave Southampton and get off the freeway, it gets interesting. You will be driving through the rolling hills of the Cranborne Chase. Stop and see pretty villages with thatched cottages and chalk streams. Some parish churches in this region are over 1000 years old; Stop and go inside and see ancient tombs and old fonts.
Stop at Stonehenge for refreshment and tour the monument with your driver-guide. Stonehenge is 5000 years old and is known to be a temple to the sun, stars and moon. Discover the secrets of Stonehenge and the latest facts. Head to a local pub for lunch before heading to Windsor.
From one of the worlds most famous ancient monuments to the worlds largest inhabited Castle, Windsor Castle is huge and impressive. Tour the grand staterooms, where world leaders are entertained, dine and have tea with the Queen. St George's Chapel is a place of rest for Kings and Queens of the past, and most recently, the last resting place of the Queen's husband, Prince Philip. Finish the afternoon will a stroll through the town and into the Windsor Great Park. Drop off at either London or Heathrow.
The Jurassic Coast (full day)
We start the day with a leisurely drive through the New Forest National Park. Spot the wild forest ponies before a brief stop at Wimborne Minster. The historic town has been a place of pilgrimage for 1300 years and is still a thriving market town.
Arrive in the old village of Corfe and marvel at the Corfe Castle, the spectacular ruins perched on a rocky crag. Your guide will tell you tales of siege, deception and Viking invasion. Enjoy an early lunch in town before reaching the coast.
The Jurassic Coast world heritage site is the only place in the world where you can see 185 million years of geological history in sequential layers of stone. Apart from the geology, it happens to be breathtakingly beautiful. The best way to enjoy it is to take a stroll along the cliffs on to the beaches. Start from Lulworth Cove and walk to Durdle Door.
Time permitting, stop on Chesil Beach, the 18 miles long shingle barrier beach. Perhaps the greatest barrier beach in the world. Drop off at either London or Heathrow.
Jane Austen's England (full day)
Hampshire, otherwise known as 'Jane Austen Country'. See her home, at Chawton and her grave in Winchester Cathedral. Your driver-guide will transport you back to the early 19th century, hear what life was like for women like Jane during this period.
Jane Austen is one of England's most revered novelists. So well-loved here, she has made it onto our £10.00 note. Your driver-guide will take you to the village of Chawton, considered the most essential 'Austen' site in the world; it is the only place that Jane lived and wrote.
Here you will be able to see her writing table, first editions of her most famous works, and Austen family heirlooms. Finish your Jane Austen journey at Winchester Cathedral, the final resting place of this literary heroine. Winchester Cathedral is one of England's Great places of worship and features mortuary chests containing the bones of old Kings. Drop off at either London or Heathrow.
Salisbury Cathedral and Old Wardour Castle (full day)
A short hope from Southampton is the county of Wiltshire and the medieval city of Salisbury. The Cathedral is famous for its towering spire, reaching 404 ft into the heavens. The enclosed and preserved area around the church is the largest of its type and features attractive historic homes. Go inside with your guide and admire the early English gothic architecture and see a copy of the Magna Carta (1215). Purchase picnic items and head into the Nadder valley.
Take a sublime drive into the Nadder valley, stopping for photographs at picturesque spots. Your driver-guide will get the picnic blankets out and layout the lunch before telling you the story of Old Wardour Castle. A romantic ruin surrounded by Lancelot "Capability" Brown landscaped grounds. The castle dates from around 1400 and has a few dramatic tales in its history. Explore the ruins before heading up to the main and a drive past Stonehenge or stop time permitting. Drop off at either London or Heathrow.
England's Wine Country (full day)
Over the last 30 years, England has built a formidable reputation in wine production. Unique is the palatableness of the sparkling wines rather than having a distinct champagne taste which means that non-champagne drinkers could love this.
Leave Southampton and head into the chalky South Downs National Park. Drive into the old town of Arundel, see the castle (go inside and shorten vineyard stops) and stretch your legs with a stroll around the shops. Briefly stop in the beautiful village of Amberley before arriving at the Wiston Wine Estate for your tour. The Wiston Estate Vineyard is hidden away in the South Downs, housing a 16-acre vineyard and a beautiful Wine Barn. Stop at the Nytimber Vineyard shop for purchases before heading to the Bolney Estate for cheese and wine tasting.
Known as one of the oldest and most radiant vineyards in England, the Bolney Wine Estate sits in the heart of Sussex's countryside. Here they produce award-winning still and sparkling wines. Time permitting, stop at Cider producing farm for further tasting before heading into London.
